I just checked the internet and saw that the Facet 40106 pump delivers 18
gal per hour.
This sounds about right. If I'm racing and burning about that fuel flow one
pump keeps the header at about a constant level. I'm sure it has something
to do with each aircraft's particular plumbing though. So two pumps = 36
gal per hour.
Another factor is the aircraft attitude. If you're in your best glide nose
down pitch, it may take longer for the fuel in the header to reach a level
to be useful. There will be some air mixing with the fuel at first.
There are some designs on the LML for using float switches in the header
tank that look like a good way to go.
