Sounds very similar to Leroy Poulin's  Legacy accident last month at French
Valley. As I pictured it, It began as a late turn to final or too narrow a
downwind perhaps enhanced by a undesirable crosswind causing a necessity to
make a major adjustment to get back on centerline. Now the stage is set. Low
and slow, crosscontrolled past the limit  and snaproll. His accident also
ended as upside down at 45 degree down.
