Attached is a pic of my panel.  I would strongly recommend going with an aluminum face plate on all of your panels. It will give you by far the best result. You can also take them and have them silk screened the way you want them. I painted my own panels and had my brother do the text with photoshop. We scanned in the panels and did the text and logo's. I had screens made and did the silk screening myself. You can have that part done for around $100. You can not scratch off the paint. They are very durable. The paint will chip but it should last for years and still look great if you do not abuse it...

I'll reference the archives, but want to ask other builders about the durability and satisfaction after several years, of the material and methods chosen to labelling and placarding your instrument panels, if you also chose to stay with the original gray surface of the 235 panels.
