Thanks for your insights on this subject.  I am currently constructing a new intake system and hope to remove my title as "Backwards-Rick"<G>.  I will report my results on this forum as soon as it is available.

I went to HomeDepot yesterday to look at some rubber plumbing sleeves but found the diameter of these sleeves a bit larger than the 3-inch flanges I made so I'll have to use regular SCAT tubing.  Backwards-Rick (at least for now...)
