[Michael A. Fopp...]
It took 4 minutes to transfer 1 US Gal. This seems a
long time to me and means that at 7 gph the pumps are going to be on over
half the time! Can anyone enlighten me further of the time it takes in
their aircraft. Michael -
In order to maintain fuel balance in both wings and accomplish
fuel transfer more rapidly, I always turn both fuel pumps on together. I
have a sight gauge for my 10 gallon header tank and generally initiate fuel
transfer at 1/2 tank depletion.
(You can view my sight gauge on my webpage
http://sites.netscape.net/wrumburg/homepage.html )
At 8 - 10 gph fuel burn, it takes about 30 minutes to deplete 1/2
tank, then about 10 minutes to refill with both pumps on. The fuel pumps
then have about a 25% duty cycle.
On the matter of Dynafocal mounts - I do not understand how Vern can say
that they are the same. The geometry of the mounting points is very
different.
With regard to DynaFocal engine mounts, they are designed so that
the focal point of the four mounting bolts is(approximately) the the center
of mass of the engine/prop combination. The Type II was developed
specifically for the Twin Comanchee, because it's long prop extension
resulted in a considerably more forward center of mass. Bill Rumburg
