"Is anybody using a quick oil drain on their Legacy?"

Hi David,

I tried the Saf-Air F62 oil pan quick drain fitting on my Legacy, which has an IO-550 engine with only a single drain on the right side of the oil pan.  The clearance wasn't adequate when the nose gear was retracted.  The quick drain didn't actually touch the nose gear, but there was only about a quarter inch of clearance.  Considering how much the engine rocks and rolls in the rubber mounts, I thought that was too close and went back to the standard drain plug.

But I have Lancair IV over-center links because the stock Legacy links didn't give me the proper nose gear angle.  Your Legacy's geometry might be different enough that the quick drain will fit.  I bought my quick drain fitting from Sac Sky Ranch and returned it with no problem.  You might give it a try.  It would sure make draining oil easier.

Good luck,
Dennis
