Randy, I've used Spruce's unit for ten years on my LNC2 and it seems to work just fine on my O-235. I do not return the gunk that it collects to the crankcase but have attached a small (~8 oz.) poly bottle to the oil return line for that purpose. It collects about 3 - 4 ounces of condensate in a year and is emptied at each condition check. From the looks of that stuff, I wouldn't want it back in the engine. The vent is routed to the bottom of the cowling via a plastic tube.

The can is mounted to the firewall and I've installed a small (1/2 in. ID) hose from the rear baffle to blow a bit of cooling air on it with the intention of increasing the vapor condensation on the internal walls.

I think it's working as required - but that's just one person's opinion.
