       I plan to use Eaton (Cutler-Hammer) 6041H202 200A, 28V coil. I checked the one I have and it drew 0.35A @ 24.4V initially- after 20 minutes I got a reading of 0.30A @ 23.8V. After 45 minutes it was warm but not uncomfortable, so perhaps a bit cooler than you describe.
In the AeroElectric Connection Bob Nuckolls discusses the operating and construction differences of typical contactors. It helped me a lot.
