Dear Rob:
Re your post I am in the throes of installing the S-Tec system 20 and have
the whole package at my finger tips. I think I am in a position to help
you.
1. The servos are geometrically identical as far as the envelope is
concerned. I do not have the pitch servo but I do have a picture of it in
the brochure and it is basically the same to look at except it has the
capstan drive instead of the "Flywheel" crank type. The overall dimensions
are the same. I would think that you can use the dimensions of one to
position the other, with the proviso that you leave room at the drive end in
case of a difference there.
2. As I said, I have all the drawings and if you give me a street address
I will send you a copy of the hardware installation drawing for the roll
servo. I do not have the pitch servo installation drawing but I could
probably get it at the end of February when I visit my avionics supplier who
would like to sell me the System 30 add on kit.
3. The difficulty I had when installing the roll servo was the hydraulic
cylinder for the RH inboard door and its hoses were in the way of the front
portion of the servo. (The servo mounts on the right hand exterior wall of
the console some 6" aft of the web of the main spar) If you do not have the
hydraulic doors you have a clear run at the installation as the space in
front of the servo should be clear. Only the gear hydraulics are in the
area and they will lie on the floor. It is tight in there and the stiff
"flexible" hoses in the kit make it more difficult. I have cosidered
getting SS braided hoses for that area to help in the routeing.
4. I do not have a dummy servo.
The hardware kit is very expensive for what it is. Conservatively you could
buy the standard parts from Spruce for $100 and the rest you could get made
for another $100. There is nothing exotic in it at all except that it is
approved for the LNC2. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you
with.
