The best and most accurate source for information regarding the operation
of your Continental TSIO 550 should be their  Model Spec. sheets and the
Operating Manual.

On page 10-11 Para V.- E., Cylinder Head Temperature
1. Limit 460
2. Recommended max. operational 420
3. Minimum T.O. descent 240
(Verbal / Chip McClellan: 410 = Optimum cruise)

Para I 1 Turbine Inlet temperature  a. Maximum Continuous   1750 b. Maximum, 30 seconds  1850 Let me hasten to say that placement (TIT probe Depth and distance from
exhaust valve EGT) will skew these #'s.  I have not found any max EGT
listings anywhere and Chip says there are none.  Also I would add that low
temperatures are NOT necessarily desirable.  My engine has 730 hours since I overhauled it and installed Top Care Cyls
and it's running fine.

Rich of peak v.s. Lean of peak??? My primary concern is smoothness. Charlie Kohler
