An approach that has kept me alive in 44 years of flying has been the
following:

When you are considering entering or taking off into questionable weather
ask the following question:

Think of a friend of yours with the same number of flying hours and
experience as you have.  He/She asks you, "May I have the keys to your
airplane to fly through the weather?"  Would you give him/her the keys to your airplane?
