Rick Titsworth was advised: (for our brake line hoses) that since the Teflon
liner
is typically thinner than a standard SS rubber hose liner, that there is a
risk of a broken SS braid wire piercing the Teflon and initiating a leak.
Any confirmation of my A&P's
comments above (or is it an OWT - old wise tale).

Rick, Two comments. In our application, there is almost no flex of the brake
lines in normal operation. The risk of an internal puncture from a broken
shield wire seems to be extremely remote to me. This is a concern if the
hose has been damaged or sharply kinked during installation or service, but
not for normal operations. Second, the actual flow through these lines is
very small. Lots of builders have used high quality very high pressure 1/8"
lines to improve reliability without problems. The result of a too-small
line will be a delay between foot pedal depression and brake
application--this is definitely not good, as it will cause you to "over
apply" brakes, especially during emergency application, but the differences
you are considering should have no noticeable effect at all.

Hope this helps.
