But you forgot to mention thier Jet-A Rotary. Yes, rotaries will run on Jet-A too, although not a true "diesel" engine in that an ignition source is still necessary. Pretty exciting stuff. Mark S. Jon,

You beat me to the punch.  But you forgot to mention thier Jet-A Rotary.  Yes, rotaries will run on Jet-A too, although not a true "diesel" engine in that an ignition source is still necessary.  Pretty exciting stuff.

the new rotary AIRCRAFT engines being built by Mistral in Geneva,
Switzerland.  Like most others, it's based on the Mazda block but then they
built an aircraft engine around it.  They have 4 engines; 190hp 2-rotor, 230
hp 2-rotor turbocharged, 300hp 3-rotor, and a 360hp 3-rotor turbocharged.
They are computer controlled (FADEC) and smaller and lighter than their
air-cooled counterparts.  The 2-rotor has been flying for several years
(testing at Embry Riddle in Daytona) in a Piper Arrow and they're going to
FAA certify them beginning this year.

Check them out.  They've been at Oshkosh the last couple years and will be
there again this year.  www.mistral-engines.com

Legacy....in progress!
