I'm surprised you guys haven't discussed the new rotary AIRCRAFT engines being built by Mistral in Geneva, Switzerland. Like most others, it's based on the Mazda block but then they built an aircraft engine around it. They have 4 engines; 190hp 2-rotor, 230 hp 2-rotor turbocharged, 300hp 3-rotor, and a 360hp 3-rotor turbocharged. They are computer controlled (FADEC) and smaller and lighter than their air-cooled counterparts. The 2-rotor has been flying for several years (testing at Embry Riddle in Daytona) in a Piper Arrow and they're going to FAA certify them beginning this year. Check them out. They've been at Oshkosh the last couple years and will be there again this year. www.mistral-engines.com Jon Hults Legacy....in progress!
