Everything is a matter of tradeoffs. Which engine and set of problems you start with ... How a particular engine is designed ... I for one am glad to talk about the less than desirable warts of an engine I plan to use. It makes me aware of some of the known failure modes and plan ahead how to deal with them. Initial setup, fuel pressure & fuel flow monitoring, and proper fuel pump management should allow one to fly safe. It's not idiot proof. And I am sure real people have been burnt by it. But like many scenarios we train for. With proper evaluation and decision making relative to an engine out due to fuel problem we can mitigate the risks. r.t.s. p.s. The picture looks like you are the one that likes to play with fire :) -----Original Message---- It was I who said that the IO-550 fuel injection system is poorly designed. I have a real-life flameproof suit and might as well use it on occasion :-) -bob mackey
