FYI, I did some internet snooping...  Perhaps the reason I see XM nexrad WX in Ontario Canada is the placement of the US Nexrad sites.  Ref: http://www.wunderground.com/radar/map.asp.  Southern Ontario “sticks down” between Michigan and NY and is thus mostly covered by the US nexrad antenna sites.  Perhaps the same “across the border” view does not seem to occur out west (or at least not to the same extent).  I definitely do get the Canadian Metars.

Further FYI, the airspace over Canada is definitely Canadian and to my knowledge requires a flight plan and squak code for international over-flights (that’s how I always fly over it).  However, on several occasions when I’ve flown direct from Detroit to Buffalo (over Canada) at night, I wasn’t handed over to a Canadian controller – just stayed with Cleveland Center who covers those Canadian sectors.
