A problem with "air" is humidity/impurities and their associated effects ... oxidizing metals for example. Also, be sure that the Schraeder Valve is the high pressure type, the stem is slightly shorter and usually grey in color. The normal red valve will bleed off and not trap pressure in the oleo....
