Hi Rick,
Condolences.
I bent the tips of my 72" Hartzel on a frost heave. The prop shop shortened
it 1" each end and straightened it out for the cost of a prop overhaul.
They are the experts. See if they can fix it.
Similarly, see what's damaged in the engine first. Maybe nothing.
I went from 8.5 to one up to 9 to one compression. This makes more
efficient use of fuel, more power and more power at altitude. 75% power
will be at a higher altitude when at full throttle (a little like a turbo).
This is at the expense of more stress on everything. You might not make
2000 TBO. (But then, 2000 hours is a long time and if you lend your plane
to your friends it won't matter.)
Your engine will be "experimental" and a log entry will caution anyone who
wants to put it into a Skyhawk or something else certified.

Subject: [LML] 360 Landing Incident: Engine Tear-Down/New Props
So, due to a landing incident that bent the props on my 360, an engine
tear-down is now requried. This particular engine has approximately 900
hours TTSN. New props will probably be needed also.
I need some feedback please.
Engine:
- install high-compression pistons now? Which ones?
- get the engine overhauled now? Zero timed?
Prop
- I had the 72" Hartzell props
- should I go for the newer 68" ones?
- Scimitars blades?
