Air is approx. 80% nitrogen and 20% oxygen. A compressed air bottle would give you the proper air/nitrogen mix for breathing. If you use a dive bottle and are breathing straight from the bottle through a regulator there will be no oxygen loss, so you should be fine. The only thing one would have to remember while doing an emergency descent and breathing from the bottle would be to not hold their breath. And you can fill it at a dive shop if you are certified. I'm assuming that one would want an emergency descent bottle for smoke in the cabin or some other noxious fume. Nitrox with a higher oxygen percentage is only necessary when you are at deep diving for prolonged periods. In that case, you would want to have a regulator for breathing to eliminate breathing smoke or fumes. If you want oxygen because of loss of cabin pressure, then the emergency air bottle would still work if you had a regulator. But, you might find that an oxygen system for an aircraft is just as inexpensive as a dive bottle made for nitrox mix with a regulator. Those things aren't cheap. I bought a really nice oxygen system for my bird for $440 bucks on sale. I can put pure oxygen in them....they are made for aviation.....I can fill them at airports with the proper faciliities......and I can use the system for high altitude flying and in case of an emergency descent.
