I haven't worked on my tail for a long while (it's almost ready to close) but I thought the part with the ribs and spars installed was the bottom, not the top. At least that's how it was on my workbench. The piece was curved so it did not lay flat on the table, but the other surface was curved too, and they matched perfectly. It seemed correct at the time, but I haven't touched it for about three years.
This would explain, however, why my trim tab seems to be on the wrong elevator!!!
With respect to newsletters, I probably gave the only positive comments to Lancair, but I also asked for more technical content. It is what it is -- a newsletter for company business -- not a technical publication. That's what this forum and the Frantz's newsletter is for. I also asked for "what's new i
n Vern's toy store" and have often poked at them for "most often heard builder question". But all in all, I enjoy the newsletters, even if I do get more for my money elsewhere...
