Well, I've been a little silent lately, mostly cuz I've been so busy trying
to finish my Legacy. However, this whole conversation poked me to post the
following information.
I've been selected to be a beta tester for Vertical Power
(www.verticalpower.com). I've also created a Blog of my progress. Prior to
this selection, I was just about to start a traditional breaker, switch,
buss, etc - Dual Alt/Batt project, and then stopped and restarted with the
VP-200 duo in mind.
That Blog is at http://legacyair.blogspot.com Marc Ausman is one of the principles at VP and has just been a pleasure to
work with. His website provides lots of information about their products.
I will admit tho, it's rather hard to say that it's "a ...... Type product".
It's a bunch of things rolled into one. Engine information center (note I
didn't say engine monitor altho is does similar functions), electrical
information center with many levels of fault tolerance, Airplane mode
controller, and most important, Airplane automation controller.
If anyone has any question, feel free to post them on the VP forums (listed
under support from the main page) or you can send me an email and I'll make
my feeble attempt at an answer :).
I'm right in the middle of wiring, labeling, and doing the engine all at the
same time, so life is crazy at the moment. I'll continue to keep up the
blog tho as I waddle along.

Subject: [LML] Re: Essential Bus??
There is a new offering from the RDD guys in Redmond. Besides their de-ice
system (hot stuff!) they are selling also a dual bus alternative (snip below
from their Web site: Electri-X(tm) by RDD
Electri-X is an advanced electrical system specifically developed for the
unique demands of the experimental aircraft builder. Electri-X consists of
two independent systems that are redundant in every aspect.
The critical difference between dual and redundant is that many aircraft
with dual electrical systems generally have a lesser back-up electric system
that cannot operate all standard systems. Electri-X redundancy means that
both electrical systems are equal in form and function- meaning that either
system is fully capable of powering all standard equipment independently.
Electri-X by RDD offers a level of electrical power delivery redundancy
usually only found on twin-engine or very high-end piston singles. Dual 60
amp alternators, dual 15 amp hour batteries, dual busses and dual wiring
harnesses ensure that an electrical emergency will not force you to shed
power, pull breakers, turn off critical standard systems or fly a partial
panel in the event of an electrical emergency. Web site: http://www.rddent.com/products.html E-mail to: david.mcrae@rddent.com
Just another option. -----Original Message-----

I am (like a lot of us) doing a dual alt/dual battery system. 70 amp alt as
a main with a 20 amp alt as an Aux. --
