moment Arm. With fuel, the moment Arm is near the CG and thus the weight
of the fuel is not helpful from a CG standpoint. In fact, my
understanding is that the fuel is generally designed to be near the CG so that
the CG doesn’t change (much) as fuel is burned.”

Forgive me for interjecting here, and
maybe I misread what you meant but I don’t think Brent meant 5 gals of
fuel for CG assistance, I think he just would rather be able to have an
additional 5 gallons of fuel somewhere instead of batteries, gizmos or whatever.
Watching our ounces means we can put more gas in our planes, which means the
engine keeps running longer and can therefore keep us cooler on a hot day…
