<< Lancair Builders' Mail List >>

From David Jones
I, too, vote for the website. I feel that I have been paying for a sales brochure, as some others have said.
The factory website could put up changes to the manuals for each model. I used to get revision sheets about once a year, and I could never figure out what they changed. If they put revisions on the website, they would have to be specific and concise, and the builder wouldn't have to spend hours searching for that elusive bolt that they changed.
On the other hand, since the once a year revision sheets seem to have slipped into once-a-whenever status, it would mean that the factory would have to tune up its deficiency in this area before they add this info to the website. You can't put revisions on a website if you don't have them....
On the positive side, the factory could immediately put SB information on the Website (notice how I have now capitalized website). This would speed up the flow of information. Maybe even the Flap Actuator Hydraulic Cylinder SB that Lance promised me on 15 November might reach the IV owners on the Website before someone's flaps extend unsymmetrically. On the negative side, however, if they put SB's on the Website, it would detract from using it as a sales and promotion tool-- "Gees, Al, did you see all the screw ups that Lancair has had on that model?"
Nonetheless, I vote for the continuous flow informational Website. If they needed to hide the pimples, bumps, and bruises, they could give the builders passwords so that the general public would not be exposed to information that they don't need.
Hmmm. I wonder if they would give me a password?
