You can get a lot of that same erroneous stuff from some OEM engine engineers. Twenty years ago I was developing IMSA GTP engines for Pontiac. We were using Cosworth's electronic fuel injection system. The Cosworth engineer said he wanted to run "lean of peak" during an endurance race for fuel economy. My response was....YOU WANNA DO WHAT??? He explained they were successfully running Formula 1 cars lean, although their oil pressure cooled piston dome cavity was somewhat unique.
