Marv,
My $.02 worth.
I believe the fowler flaps on the Lelgacy are what
allows a smaller more efficient wing to be used. (higher cruise - lower
landing speeds, etc).
I'd be happy to have Legacy flaps if I could have
Legacy wings too. (maybe I should just get a Legacy) :)
Lowering the landing speeds may not be entierly
safe in the existing LNC2.
There have been many posts on the threads of "nose
bobbing" and efects of CG with the small tail models. The greatest
limiting factor I see, is that there really isn't enough aileron to handle gusty
conditions already. That with the short coupled rudder. Slow
speed handling is one of the weakest areas of this design. Better flaps
would only be useful in the best of flying conditions.

Subject: [LML] LNC2 flap mod
While visiting Bill Bradburry's
nice Legacy FG project a couple weeks ago I had an opportunity to get a good
look at the flap system and was really impressed. It occurred to me that
semi-fowler flaps on an LNC2 instead of the present rotating, hinged flaps
might be a worthwhile modification. Gaining that extra wing area during
the first 20 or so degrees of flap travel sounds like a great deal to me,
would have to have a positive effect on lowering the dirty stall speed.
Have any of you attempted this mod or given it any serious thought? I'd
sure like to get some input before committing to it. Help, observations,
suggestions will all be appreciated. Thanks.....
