Rick [FAA Form 337 is required when major alterations are made to certified aircraft and doesn't apply to homebuilt experimentals. If you remember, back in March of this year we had a significant discussion here regarding what needs to be reported, what doesn't, and what's the best (and legal) way to be sure that your butt is covered with both the FAA and your insurance company. In particular, there's an excellent post from Scott Krueger on March 14, 1999, which included copies of letters to/from him and the FAA regarding changes he made along the way to his airplane. The FAA should be notified with a letter describing the change which puts the ball in their court to decide whether or not the modification is significant enough to warrant additional flight testing hours or not. The fact that the letter is sent (and received, so get a receipt) covers you with them legally, and this slams the door shut on the insurance company's ability to suggest that there were modifications made to the aircraft which might have voided the airworthiness certificate should they be called upon to pay a claim. I hope this helps. ] >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
