Bottom >line.. how do I best cure the problem? Yes this is what you should do ! I had the same problem and had to make my inboard attachment 1.5" long on the one side and 1.75" on the other side. Also I made alu. spacers that copied the side of the overcenter link where the attach tabs bolt on, this spaced them out so that there was a no bind condition. If you need pics then just mail me.
