Hi folks,

I finally got around to having my prop/engine dynamically balanced last week at Sky Manor Airport by Krees Aviation.  Started out with 0.45 ips and ended up with 0.08 ips.  Noticeable difference as soon as I taxied the plane and a definite difference in flight.  Boy, what difference a few washers (on the right places) can make!!  Nice and smooth!! I would be interested in the results of others who have done the same.

BTW, Sky Manor is the shortest runway I have ever landed with my Lancair, only 2,500 feet, with high-tension wires on one end of the runway.  I used every single inch of the runway on landing...  I've been doing testing with my newly installed S-Tec System 30.  This system works really well and I'm very happy with the performance.  It feels weird when both the roll and pitch computers are engaged, nothing much to do except enjoy the scenery (and yes, monitor the instruments).  I did not get the DG that interfaces with the auto pilot but I think it would be a nice addition at some future time.  I can't wait for my next long x-cntry tirp...

Lastly, while at Sky Manor, I meet Ken Johnson who owns an award-winning Glassair III and he showed me his electronic ignition system by Lightspeed (I think).  He claims a 10 knot cruise speed increase at 10K.  I was wondering if anybody in this group have replaced either one or both mags with an electronic ignition system?   Please comment as to the type of system and performance changes, thanks.  Rick Argente
