(or a non-turbo IO550G, non-p lancair4) Looking at Noah Forden's numbers: 38k kit 6k kit options 5k paint 4k upholstery 40k Avionics 48k Firewall forward 3k tools 2k shipping 2k shop rental and extra stuff --- 148k they seem about right (I might spend alittle more on the pannel)... but Noah's 1year @ $30k build time seems short/cheap.. I intend to work on my l2k during the weekends, but I'm hoping to contract out alot of work durring the week days. If it takes 4000+hrs to build a safe 4p with its more advanced builders assistance program and firewall forward kits, how can one expect to get a l2k done in less than 2000hrs? The prototype was 1350lbs of carbon. The current max landing is 1900lbs with 100lbs of takeoff gas.. (it holds 66gals) Kim said that 2200lbs at takeoff is doable under "normal" +3.8 -1.9 but its been challenging to get get more weight for landing (call with kim 11/16) Yea, that's an hr reserve, but who wants to put just enough gas in for the flight every single time you fly? Compairing a IO550G, non-p Lancair4, to a Legacy with 440lbs of stuff and 4hrs gas what's your guess on these: 1) Which aircraft will be able to take off on a shorter field? 2) Utilizing *all* programs (builder's assist & firewall forward, arn't avalible for the smaller l2k) which aircraft will come together faster?
