Gentlemen and Ladies:  

Mr. Hogarty asks about H-D solenoids that may be able to operate up to
one hour @ 12 V. (Note: amperage requirements not specified).  

I would respectfully suggest that those of you in need of such an item
consider checking out the suppliers of parts to the commercial lift
truck/forklift/personnel lift industries. Many specialized trucks
operate on electric-D/C  for  hours on end. You will need to discuss
your needs with them to find out what product they supply that will meet
your needs.  It is important to remembert that there are typically no
returns allowed on electronic parts for these machines, so order
carefully. 

Remember to take into account the rather large magnetic field that can
be created in the area surrounding your solenoids.  

Some sources would be "Helmar Inc"  1-800 621 3414,...  "Unisource" 
1-516 224 5000,  and "Aerial Specialists" 1-414 835 1616.

These sources may not be willing to sell to an "end-user" directly.  If
you are unable to get them to deal with you first-hand,  I may be able
