I can get them scanned, but it will be a few days. Meanwhile, let me try to explain what I did. First, I put lightening holes in 3" x 1" x 1/8" angle aluminum. Then, I cut off about an inch of the 1" ends so the 3" side would rest on the longeron on one side and the nose gear tunnel on the other. I did this on both sides of the cockpit about (I'm guessing - the a/c is in the hanger) 14" aft of the rear of the firewall. It is quite level and makes a good, broad platform on which to mount things like the vacuum pump air filter, encoder and braces for heavy gyros on the instrument panel. Others had complained that their fuselage tended to flex where the bottom of the plate holding the canopy air spring balls is attached to the inside of the fuselage. Therefore, I used a piece of the 3" x 1" angle about (guessing again) 8" long which I mounted on top of the lateral angle aluminum, with the 3" side vertical and running aft, paralleling and sticking above the inside edge of the fuselage. The balls for the canopy air springs are mounted near the top, aft corner of the vertical 3" piece of angle al.. To brace the aft end of the angle al. holding the balls, I attached a thick piece of al., about 1.5" x 2.5" x 1/8" under the aft end of the 1" side of the angle al. and rested the other end on the longeron just behind where the fiberglass holding the forward deck mounting hinge angles down to the level of the longeron. It is much more sturdy than the method described in the manual. There is no flex at all. I realize a picture would be much better, but try reading this very slowly while looking down on the area behind the firewall. If it isn't clear, have a couple of beers and try again. Or tell me what doesn't make sense.
