I have a 320 with the SL-30 installed. I couldn't be happier with a radio. Most folks I know don't really understand their intercom/radio control panel anyway. Who needs more switches? I really like being able to monitor the standby comm and nav channel. Great radio! There have been a few times when I wish I had more direct control over intercom volume/squelch, but not many.

I am considering a radio upgrade in my 235/320. Not having acres of
panel space like a Lancair IV, I am looking for small, lightweight
configurations. One possiblity is to use the Garmin SL30 Nav/Com
which includes a built-in 2-place intercom. Having only two seats,
and no room for more, that seems like it might suffice while also
allowing me to listen to the standy frequency, and monitor the radial
from the standby VOR. It all sounds pretty slick...
But - will I be happy with the intercom's performance?
Or will I want a separate audio panel anyway?
The intercom does not have dedicated knobs, but instead requires twisting
and selecting menu items to adjust volume or squelch.
Does the SL30 have non-muting inputs for alarms or annunciators?
If anyone is using an SL30 and its integrated intercom, I'd like to hear
about your results.
