I fly a normally aspirated Lancair IV and love it. However, on final approach when bringing power back, I get a lot of popping out of the exhaust pipes. I don't believe it is harmful, however, it is disconcerting to folks on the ground and in the back seat when it happens. I wonder if any other LIV or ES drivers are experiencing this and if they, or any of our other knowledgeable listeners out there might have some useful input to resolve this condition. I purchased the standard IO-550-G exhaust system from Lancair.
