Hot starts can be a problem.  With my IO-320 I have a method that works every time.  The engine needs more air when being started hot, so think of the throttle as an air valve.  Don't prime, or if you do, just for a couple of seconds.  Set the throttle about half way full open and mixture in cutoff.  Crank the engine, and it will crank a few more turns than normal, but when it fires, push the mixture on to less than full and quickly grab the throttle and get it back to the idle range because when the engine fires it will start to race.  Works good.  I lean agressively on the ground when taxiing.  I set about 900 RPM and lean until I get RPM rise.  The plugs will load up with too much fuel in there.
George,

Exactly.  The same procedure works well for my IO 320 too.  There are just too many extra cubic inches in those 360s anyway.

A word of caution on over-priming a 4-cyl engine with a waste spark ignition system (i.e. Light Speed Eng):  The waste spark can ignite the mixture in an exhaust stroke cylinder with a nasty thump - jarring to my teeth but hopefully not as much the gear train.  Uh, she never starts on the cycle accompanied by such a misplaced explosion - the next time without the excess fuel is a charm.
