What is a PSRU?  I have purchased a subaru and will be using a hydrolic
constannt speed prop.  I hope.

PSRU stands for prop speed reduction unit.  Because props (for the most
part) are designed to spin much slower than auto engines turn you have
to bolt a psru to your subaru to reduce the engine rpm at the prop.

We are also putting a Subaru 6cyl in our White Lightning.  This engine
will turn about 5,000-6,000 rpm and with a 2.2:1 psru, the prop will
turn between 2,200 rpm and 2,700 rpm.  To date, we have not found anyone
who has then mounted a hydraulic constant speed prop to this
configuration.  The Marcotte PSRU has the capability to supply oil to
the prop, but can't find anyone who has done this with a constant speed
prop governor; therefore the electric constant speed is being considered.
