Fred,

We have met several times over as many years at Oshkosh and I have enjoyed your
contributions at Oshkosh's Lancair Forum.

I am as in the dark on this issue as are you.   What I have tried to do is to
encourage Darus to get his data out to us all so that we can examine it in the
daylight.   However, I do not recollect seeing an email that would suggest that I
have any knowledge beyond the sales literature that he forwarded after Oshkosh
1999.   Indeed, I am as interested as you and by copy of this email, I am asking
Darus, once again, to please publish it on the LML.

Really, Darus, it is not that hard to have it scanned and sent as an
attachment.   I am certain that Marv will put it on the web site and I can assure
you that the people that visit this site are serious about their engines.

Dear Mr. League:

I am writing you at the suggestion of Darus Zerbach.  There have been several
claims made on the Lancair builders web site concerning improvements in
engine performance derived from application of ceramic coatings.  The claims
do not square with my limited understanding of the topic, but as a mechanical
engineer with experience primarily in combustion, thermodynamics, heat
transfer and related disciplines, and as a former Vice President of
Engineering at several technology companies, my skepticism was naturally
heightened upon reading the claims made.  On one hand I am ever hopeful for
breakthroughs permitting quantum improvements in improvement.  On the other
my experience suggests that many technologies claiming to be breakthroughs
have failed the test of time and careful scrutiny.  So my simple rule is:
Show me the data, and how it was collected.    I like to do my own due
diligence.

Mr. Zerbach sent me the same e-mail letter he sent you, and suggested that
you could provide some technical information, reports, or other objective
third party data that I could use to enlighten my limited knowledge.  I would
appreciate any information you could contribute to my understanding, and
would request that you mail it to my home:

Thank you for your consideration.
