Scott,

I received my 320 SFB kit in July of 98.  I feel the quality of the kit is superb!  All the work on my kit seems to be well done and the components are the latest and greatest that have been changed over the years from builders input.  Naturally because fiberglass will warp over a period of time, some of the parts have settled and do not fit tightly together anymore, but that is not a problem.  Some of the problems that I have encountered are from 10 to 15 year old instructions that give improper dimensions because the parts have been upgraded or exchanged for better parts.  But, everytime I call Lancair for help......they have been very quick to explain, send parts, or answer obvious questions that I fail to see because of lack of understanding.  The best resource for help is this mail list.  I have had answers to questions almost immediately from the good folks that have been through the struggles that I face.  Many times you get different answers because different builders build differently.  I have not encountered any installed components that have qualified as "shoddy craftsmanship".  I would like to say one thing that may offend some, but my intent is not to offend anyone.  There are a lot of people that expect everything to be perfect.  That won't happen.  I consider that to be a challenge and exciting where others may get totally pissed because things don't fit or line up perfectly.  I would urge you to get not just one opinion, but many and make your own judgement.  I would also urge you to talk to builders of other aircraft and get their opinions also.  You might find that a component installed near a half inch out of place the least of your worries.  Or you may not.

Good luck in your journey

I
wanted to get the opinions of some of you on the builders list.  Also, if
you have run into these problems, how was it handled?  Did Lancair step
up
to the plate and take care of the problem, or were you told to fix it
yourself (as the builder I spoke to last night was)?
