I bought two flasher units from JC Whitney that stick on the top of vehicles or any where. They use a cigarette plug for power. I disassembled the flasher and discarded everything except the flash card and the bulb. I made a mount for the flash card that doubles as the inspection cover in the wing tip. The whole unit weighs less than 4 ounces I’m sure and uses very little current. The hardest part was making the lens....I started with Plexiglas, then went back and dug the lens out of the trash that came with the unit, cut it up, and heated it with a hot air gun to shape it. I am still not totally happy with the lens. However, the weight, cost and electrical load are very nice.
