The idea (I spoke with George Braly about it) is to get the mixture control into the hottest range that being a bit rich of peak but since you are using partial power and have a cool engine you benefit from the extra heat produced by the stoichometic setup. Have not noticed any engine changes when left the lean setup down to pattern altitude. 18ak andres
