The jump in temps occurred in the middle of an oil change, the first run with regular oil, after the break-in oil was removed.  I used the Phillips Multigrade break-in oil.  I am using Shell 15W-50 Multigrade oil now.
Mike,

Some years ago there was a problem with the plastic seal inside the cap making it into the oil being poured in the filler and blocking the flow internally.  Shouldn't happen theses days unless you used some really old 15W/50 bottles of oil.

Oil pressure has remained constant at around 45 in cruise.

That seems too low. In my Lyc I try to keep it in the 70-80 psi range.  What is the range in your engine manual? is 45 at the low end?  Do you have an oil pressure adjustment?  If the pressure is too low, certain areas may not be getting the oil they should be receiving.

So the birds nests must be a coincidence.

Hmmmmm......  Grayhawk is suspicious!  Have you flown through heavy rain to clean out the engine compartment?  How about nesting materials blocking cylinder base fins?  Baffling should be pretty tight around the bottom (underside) of the cylinders to force air thru the fins - I could imagine blockage in the fins close to the base that might not be indicated in CHTs, but in higher oil temps.  Maybe hi pressure air could be used there to clean it out. Maybe water could clean everything up.

So do you consider my CHT's of 365 to 385 to be normal or ideal?

Normal.
