I like having removable tips.

1.  I have easy access to extra hardware I put in the tips (relief/check valve for blocked fuel tank vent, GPS antenna, lights etc.)
2.  Painting of the wing was simplified - I slid a rod down the PVC conduit to help support/rotate the wings during painting.
3.  Assuming the tip is what people will most likely run into and damage, repairs would be easier (actually happened as thieves maneuvered my toolbox out the door)
