I've done many of the paperwork FSDO hoop jumping for both e= xperimental airplanes and certified birds, and just did one as recently as = last week for a C182, so at least it was required a week ago. There is no= thing magical about getting the paperwork from the FSDO, and it's not neces= sary for an avionics shop to do it so don't let some shop tell you that the= y have to do it, and proceed to charge you a small fortune for it. The imp= ortant thing is to just follow the AC, and you should get the paperwork bac= k from the FSDO in a couple of weeks. Remember too that if you have an IFR= GPS installed and don't have the paperwork back from the FSDO, you must ha= ve a placard stating that it is for VFR use only.=20=20 Sorry, Mr grayhawk dude, OTP is indeed VFR on top.=20=20 Ron Galbraith LNCE N5ES =20 - >=20 > However, I thought the FSDO doc rule was rescinded a year or two ago? > Anyone at a famous Lancair avionics shop care to comment? >=20
