Turns out that with the nose gear down and links over center and the bearing plus stop nut threaded in as far as they could go, the cylinder shaft needed to be shortened .3475". Disassembling the cylinder and exposing the innards is a 60 second operation....once you figure out the procedure and have the correct size snap ring pliers. Hopefully, there will be no leaks. Attached is a pic of the cylinder apart and spacer installed.
