Thanks, Lorn. I already have this SB, and I always service my strut with dry nitrogen. The rust I am talking about is inside the shaft where the SB says to "look inside for oil". I guess my strut seals are so good in this area that no oil has leaked at all allowing rust to begin forming. I will stop this by spraying the area with LPS-3.

If you haven't inspected this area of your strut for a long time, I suggest you do. If you don't have a trace of oil on these surfaces, you could also have the corrosion problem. By the way, my plane is almost always hangered, and I don't fly much in the rain or let it sit out in the rain. Relative humidity is usually around 40%.
