Noise wheel shimmy is nothing to take lightly. I was told by several L4
folks not to put over 30 psi in the noise tire. The fact that it looks low is
what makes a larger foot print and keeps it from shimmying. Since there is no
noise wheel steering mechanism to add mass or help restrain the start of a
shimmy we need the tire to be much closer to the correct pressure determined by
the test pilots and folks that went before us. Actually, I think the noise strut
is done very good to have it's internal shimmy dampener and still have full
castering ability.
The mains are more up to the type of tire. I use 60 psi on Flight Custom
III.
