Rarely, if ever, have I met someone who is so talented, such a great guy, so helpful, and, most importantly, who has such a good heart. Don is truly one-of-a-kind. I'm not giving anything away when I say that this off-airport landing has shook Don to the core. Anyone of us might feel exactly the same at this point in time. Don is one of the best pilots that I have ever flown with. Flying is clearly his passion and his destiny. As we all know, he proved his talent by responding in such an outstanding manner to his recent engine stoppage. I join those of you who have already encouraged Don to let the dust settle before he makes any big or irrevocable decisions. In fact, I am rather pleased at the outpouring of support for Don. All of the postings have been very positive and encouraging. I am quite gratified by this. I hope everyone continues in this vein and keeps urging Don to just take a deep breath and don't be in a big hurry. We will support whatever he decides. He just needs to gain some perspective that only time can provide. Everybody makes mistakes. All of us. That's just the way it is. In spite of that, I still hold Don in the highest regard. His talent at building (for the very first time) is exemplified by his recent award at Oshkosh. Many of you have met and/or communicated with Don as he has freely given his time to share his passion for the Legacy. He has always enthusiastically helped other builders with ideas, resources, sources, etc. His Legacy web site has helped many a builder. I would fly with Don anytime, anywhere. Don, my friend, please give it some time.
