My guess is it was "counter" torque, if you will. When you get a 14=20 foot, 4 bladed prop stopped in a hurry (as can happen in an engine=20 seizure in a radial) it can literally bend an airframe if it is on the=20= ground...in the air it seems it would most likely do as you describe. Still, would love to fly a Sandy some day...the T-28 is kinda, sorta in=20= the same ball park, but not quite...
