Actually, the fuel density of Jet A is more like 6.3 to 6.8 lbs/gal
depending on temp. We (I'm an ex KC-135 boom operator) used 6.4 for all
our weight & balance calcs for JP-4.
Of course, a Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC) of .67 lbs/HP is still
pretty bad...
