One of only two Lancair Legacy kit aircraft flying in Europe landed in Oshkosh Thursday, safely bringing EAA members Dino and Piera Quaresimin to their first EAA AirVenture fly-in.
Dino and Piera departed their native Luxembourg on July 16 and made stops in Scotland, Iceland, Greenland, Canada, and Michigan during their 20-hour flight. They landed safely in Oshkosh on July 21.

"It was easier than we thought it would be," said Dino. "We expected weather issues, but there were none, and everything went well with the plane."

Dino bought his Lancair kit in 2000 after using the Internet to research the Legacy. It took him 1,700 hours over two years to build the kit, but pilot and completed aircraft have shared the better part of 500 flight hours traveling Europe and northern Africa together since their first flight in 2003.

"We're looking forward to seeing everything," at this year's show, said Dino. "It is very big."

The aircraft, LX-DIN, will be on display in the Lancair Kit Aircraft exhibit until Dino and Piera pack up their Oshkosh memories and depart for their journey back to Luxembourg on Friday.
