Re: Ed Sikora's query about use of tinnerman washers on the control
surface hinge attach screws.
I've got just shy of 500 hours on N235SP and have had the aileron and
flap attaach hardware off and on less than 5 times (more like 3, total).
The elevator has been off a couple more times in that no. of hours.
My point is: I don't think I'm unique in this regard with this airplane
and the wear and tear on the subject fasteners is minimal.
Regardless, I have had stainless tinnerman's on the elevator since time
zero if for no other reason than to make me feel better about the
soundness of the total fastening system.
There is next to zero wear on the other countersinks, however. So you
pays your money and you takes your choice.
